Most small business owners have no idea where their website is hosted, and until recently it did not matter much. It matters now, for three reasons.
Your data, Canadian law
A site hosted in Canada is governed by Canadian privacy law. Customer names, quote requests, booking details and email all sit on servers that answer to PIPEDA, not to a foreign court. For a business that collects even a phone number through a form, that is the difference between a simple privacy policy and a complicated one.
Speed for the people who actually visit
A site loads fastest for the people closest to the server. If your customers are in Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg, a server in Toronto or Montreal beats one in Virginia every time. On a phone with two bars of signal on a grid road, that gap is the difference between a customer reading your page and giving up.
Supporting local
This is the one that matters most to us. Hosting with a Canadian company means the money stays in the community, the invoice is in Canadian dollars, and the person who answers your support call is a neighbour. It is the same reason you shop on main street when you can: it feels good, and it keeps local businesses going.
What we do
- Every site we build is hosted on Canadian servers
- Domains and email are registered and managed in Canada
- Website hosting is $25 a month if you choose to host with us, and email hosting is a separate $25 a month
- You own the domain and can move any time
If you are not sure where your current site lives, send us the address. It takes us a minute to check and we will tell you straight.
