Owners ask us this one a lot: if the Google listing is free, why pay for a website? The honest answer is that they do different jobs, and the businesses winning on the prairies have both set up properly.
What the Google Business Profile does
It puts you on the map, literally. When someone searches "plumber near me" or "cafe Moose Jaw", the map results come from Business Profiles, not websites. Hours, phone number, photos, reviews and directions all live there. If yours is unclaimed, half-filled or has the wrong hours, you are losing those searches to the shop down the street.
What the website does
The listing gets the click. The website earns the call. It is where people check that you look legitimate, see real photos of real work, read what you actually do and find the form or the number. It is also the only part you own: Google can change the listing rules tomorrow, and does.
The mistakes we fix most often
- A listing with no website link, or a link to a dead page
- Hours on the listing that do not match the hours on the site
- No photos on either, or the same stock photo on both
- A website with no address or town on it, so Google cannot connect the two
- Reviews never answered
How they work together
The listing and the site should say exactly the same thing: same name, same phone, same address, same hours. When they match, Google trusts both and the map ranking climbs. When they do not, it quietly drops you. Our Full Digital Management plan exists mostly to keep those two in step so you never have to think about it.
